Renee Moore's message is great! I also recommend this book: Voices of the
Self, by Keith Gilyard. It is a compelling autobiography of a boy torn
between 'standard English' and being a 'good student' and belonging to his
home community, relating to his peers. Anyone who teaches Afr. Amer. kids
would love it, I think.
