Hi Larry-

The two closest airports are Bradley Int'l (BDL) in Hartford, CT and JFK
airport in New York.  I do not *think that you can get a train easily from
BDL to Fairfield, but I know that if you fly into JFK and then train to
Grand Central Station, you can pick up the Shoreline East Commuter train
which takes you to Fairfield station.

I'm hoping to attend the ATEG conference this July but have to
investigate the transportation (and cost) options.

From what I can tell, there is no airport in Fairfield, CT.  Does
anyone have any suggestions on what airports are best to fly
into--especially one that might near a train that goes to Fairfield?  

I know it'll depend on where I'm flying in from (Mobile AL, probably),
but I'd be interested in hearing general suggestions as well. Maybe
others would also. I didn't see any specifics on the web site for
Fairfield University.
