Good idea. Where could we post a list of URLs?

Subject: A joint project

Stimulated by today's posts on the listserv, I'd like to propose a joint
project, one that might be useful to others beyond ATEG, especially
other professors who teach courses in grammar for teachers and, of
course, the teachers and teachers-to-be in their classes. I think it
would be a great resource for me as a teacher educator to be able to
share with teachers a variety of viewpoints for discussion. There have
been so many thought-provoking posts lately that I would hate to see our
thinking just disappear from print.

How about something like this:
Each of us who is willing to participate could produce a Web page
with some components such as
*A "biography" of how I [each "I" involved] got to be where I am with
respect to the teaching of language/grammar. This, I think, should be
quite informal--something like what Gretchen has shared with us. [I
personally had to do this for NCTE's online conference last fall.]
*Current thoughts about teaching and learning about language/grammar
*Current concerns that worry me and QUESTIONS that remain for me
*Some easy-to-read sources that have substantially influenced my
thinking in these matters, with hot links where relevant
*Research I'd like to do or read about

Obviously the categories would be shaped by negotiating them online, and
could be modified by anybody willing to do such a Web page. We could
draw from recent postings and our publications where relevant, but I
suggest that this be written in first person and an informal style, to
encourage others to dialogue with us, at least in their heads and with
their peers and classmates.

Any thoughts about this?

Connie
