Michael, I don't know of a freshman/sophomore course in grammar.  I teach a
grammar course at the 300-level.  My experience is that's where most college
grammar courses are, and usually they're aimed at English Ed majors, future
English teachers.  But I may be wrong.  It would be interesting to find out
where and how college grammar courses are taught and what their aims are.  Max
