FYI - One day I found a little offprint of an article from _The Chaucer 
Review_ ("Sir Gawain and _You_", vol. 5, no. 3, not dated, by Allan A 
Metcalf). His argument is that the uses of _you_ and _thou_ in Gawain 
are in accord with the idea of a T/V system in the English of the time, 
because of the contexts in which Gawain and the Green Knight use the 
pronouns. It's cute little paper. From a quick skim of the quotations, 
the case system is followed, with "ye" nominativem "you" oblique, and 
"your" possessive.
