I believe most discussions of style require some discussions of grammar and
discourse (e.g. topic/comment, theme/rheme), but such discussions are limited.
What is more, the discussions are much more lively since one does not look at
grammar in isolation but as a dynamic factor in the way we structure
information and the way we affect our readers.  Perhaps, that's why some
students find discussions of grammar in relation to style more lively than
sentence-based discussions that do not make reference to text and texture.
