I'd say this is indeed a noun clause--the "thing" that is being
wondered. I'm sure there is a more technical term for this type of
subordinate clause, but I call it an "if-type" noun clause, as opposed
to the "wh- type" noune clause that startes with words such as "who" or
"when".

What type of construction follows "I wonder"? For example:
I wonder if he will remember me.
The clause appears to be subordinate, but it certainly isn't
prototypical:
It cannot be moved, and it appears to be functioning nominally, an
option I
didn't think was available to subordinate clauses.
