I've run across one book that does, I think, an excellent job of
presenting functional grammar for college students.  It is English
Grammar:  A Functional Approach, by John Collerson.  It's published by
the Primary English Teaching Association (PETA) in Australia.  Their
address is Laura Street, Newtown NSW 2042; phone (02) 565-1277; fax (02)
565-1070.  If you get and read it, please let me know what YOU think.
