That option didn't occur to me!
Thanks,

Larry

You might try Connecticut Limo. They have almost hourly vans going out
95 from LaGuardia (and Newark and Kennedy, I believe).

Have you looked into flying into White Plains, NY -- a small pleasant
airport forty miles away from Fairfield. You can rent cars there. I
think that is what I will be doing. If our schedules at all coincided,
I'd be glad to share a rented car, but I haven't booked yet.

LaGuardia is actually a bit closer to CT if you're driving up,
so it might be your best bet. It's just a short trip to the Whitestone
Bridge, which will put you on the Hutchison River Parkway (and that
becomes the Merritt Pkwy in Connecticut, which is a good way to get to
Fairfield. If you're taking the train up, however, JFK is probably the
better choice.

Warning, however: NYC drivers are aggressive (I know because I
used to BE one!)!

I don't mean to be a tightwad, but I'd like to save as
much as I can on
the flight, esp since ground transporation has to be
figured into the
		mix.

I can fly to LaGuardia for about $80 cheaper than
Kennedy or other
airports, but I haven't ! heard too many suggestions
about LaGuardia. I'm
also thinking about just renting a car so that once I'm
at a hotel it'll
be easy to get to campus.

Does LaGuardia sound reasonable, even though most people
seem to suggest
		Kennedy?

		Hi Warren,

I live 10 minutes from the Newburgh Airport (Stewart
International
Airport, SWF is the code if you are searching for prices
to it
on-line.) The problem with flying into Stewart is the
limited
connections from there. Unless there is a bus that would
take you from
Newburgh to Fairfield, you would need to rent a car or
take a cab. If
you don't mind driving, it is 70.43 miles (1hr
39mins--as per MapQuest)

from the airport to Fairfield University. The h! ighway
that takes you
there is no more than 5-7 minutes from the airport
(you'd only have to
drive on 2 different streets). It is also a scenic
highway that goes to

		Connecticut.

Otherwise, your next best bet is to fly into Kennedy
Airport, take the
subway to Grand Central Station where you get the Metro
North train that

		goes to Fairfield, Ct.
