In most cases (i.e., when followed by a clause) "though" and "although"
are interchangeable. When "though" appears other than before a clause
(either a full or an elliptical one), you cannot substitute "although"
Example:

  His proposal wasn't very well thought out, though.
  *His proposal wasn't very well thought out, although.
