Richard,

Thanks a lot. Your comments are right to the point. I noticed too, 
that "there is no conducting a civil discourse with some people," on 
this forum and that "efforts to reply reasonably only result in 
escalating craziness." This has been my personal experience, and the 
experience of other members of this forum with Johanna Rubba. No 
matter what "her contributions to this list" have been, even, as you 
like to call them,"exptionally informative," Rubba has not right to 
atack, abuse, and harass people. Instead of suggesting to the forum 
members to ISOLATE the "detractors" you should write a private note 
to her in which you advise her to be civil and behaved. That would 
show that you are sensitive to others, caring, and considerate, just 
as an educator should be. Do you abuse, mistreat, and harass your 
students? How about members of your faculty, or your family? I hope 
you don't. 

The abuse must stop. Maybe then we can get back to talking about 
grammar. Right?
