I think what Michael wrote reflects the conversational quality of shorter postings and exchanges. The "and this organization" has the feel of an afterthought. Now as to parentheticity, I suspect it covers a multitude of sins, including some appositives and afterthoughts like this one. The commas went in spontaneously, I'm guessing, to reflect his sense that this was an afterthought, but one that fit in nicely. Commas don't make afterthoughts; afterthoughts invite commas. I think.

Can you make something parenthetical with commas, or is
parentheticality (parentheticalness, parentheticalism?) a separate
issue from the actual grammar of a sentence? (Don't you love to
invent new words?) What IS parentheticality anyway?

Personally, I would have written without commas: "This list and this
organization are priceless resources." So is it an error to put in
the commas, or is Michael trying to tell us something?

Just asking. (Trying to learn something.)

Bill
