has to offer as a result of their obvious discontent with TVT.<<
I have a newspaper article out of my parent's local (Pottstown, PA) paper
from several years ago floating around at home which addresses this topic.
If I can find it, I'll post it here. If I recall, there was a big stink
between the band and TVT about an independent project ?Doug? wanted to do
with some other folks on another label. Doug said TVT wouldn't let it
happen, because they thought people would think it was a Connells project. I
think Doug was also quoted as saying the band would break up before they
released another record on TVT. This was during the One Simple Word tour.
If I remember, his biggest stink was with the president of the company.
A later article (the music writer was a fan, I think) indicated that the
band relented, because they did want to put out an album, and because the
situation with TVT had improved to the point that they were relatively happy.
This may explain the long delay between One Simple Word and Ring. The
article also said that the band had been playing Ring material live for a
long time prior to the release of the album.
