LABEL LABEL LABEL!!!! How can TVT compete w/ Geffen, who'll
spend $500k in marketing an album, taking Dj's out to lunch, sending
mucho free tickets and free CD's to give away to the radio stations?
In order to give away Cd's, you have to play the music...as well,
labels (under the table) may pay radio stations NOT to play a certain
artist. And since it is illegal to pay for radio stations to pay for
the palying of a song....
BTW: are any of you familiar w/ "The BOX"? Basically you pay
$3.00 per video, and everybody gets to watch..sort of like public
pay-per-view. Ok, now guess who calls? That's right, the labels are
paying people (read: lowly interns) to call the Box and request (ie,
pay for) videos by artists the label wishes to promote.
3 minutes of prime time airplay on the Box is only $3...care to
take a stab at home much 3 minutes of airplay on a netwrok would run
you? Suffice it to say, the labels love the BOX ..it's like Mtv, only
THEY get to control what you see, simply because none of us can (or
would) pay $3 for a single video.....
        Sorry for blathering on..
