Hi all!
Here's a report on the Chicago show, plus a set list.
This was an outdoor show on the streets of downtown Chicago,
practically in the shadow of the Sears Tower. It was a beautiful
evening, and a pretty good-sized crowd, although I would have to argue
with the "world's largest block party" designation. And just let me
rave about Chicago food--I had the BEST piece of cheese bread EVER at
this festival!
The band seemed pretty happy with the size and responsiveness of the
crowd--Doug particularly recognized a section of the crowd he named
the "free love" section--I later learned that that refered to the
rather up-close-and-personal line dancing that some folks were doing!
For being an outdoor show, the sound was actually quite good. Again,
the high point for crowd involvement (at least up front, where I was)
came during "Slackjawed"--the high point of Doug's dancing came during
"Soul Reactor" (he knocked over the mike stand).
It was another rockin' show--much dancing, much sweating, fantastic
music and a great city! On to Cincinnati on Thursday! If you're
going to the Cinci show, by the way, email me off list if you want to
try to meet up at some point.
