just a quick note.
 
as it stands so far, there are 10 people subscribed to the list most of
them are from the english department, but we also have people from the
communications department and the history department if i am correct.
 
this would be a good point for everyone to introduce yourself to the
list.  these introductions will be saved and archived so that as people
join they will have a sense of who is here and why they are here.  i am
also putting together a little statement about how i am thinking about
this list and this collective.  this is not a statement of the rules of
the collective, rather i want to offer it as a place to begin a
discussion of the terms of collectivity, and very much want everyone to
contribute to this process...the first test of a collective practice in
my mind is having to define the term themselves, collectively.
