1/26/96 MiamiU Mail Disruption
 
MiamiU (VM/CMS) mail services experienced a disruption from
approximately 5 p.m. Friday afternoon, January 26th, until
10 a.m. Saturday morning, January 27th.  The VM virtual
machine responsible for managing incoming and outgoing mail
for MiamiU, MAILER, stopped.  The result was a mail delivery
delay during that period from both MiamiU UserIDs to all
destinations and from internet addresses to MiamiU UserIDs.
 
 
VM logs identified 167 mail messages from 25 Bitnet sites
which reached MiamiU but were lost during the service
outage.  Clients expecting to receive messages from Bitnet
sites listed below should request another copy.
 
MCIS regrets the inconvenience caused by this service
disruption.  MAILER monitoring procedures did not perform as
expected and are being adjusted to prevent any further
repeat of this problem.
