All students, staff and faculty are automatically provided
with accounts on the University's centrally-managed multi-user
computing systems, MiamiU (the IBM VM/CMS system) and MiaVX1 (the
DEC OpenVMS system in Oxford). These accounts allow access to
electronic mail as well as other network and computational tools.
In addition to these accounts, many students, staff and faculty
have e-mail capability on other systems at Miami and elsewhere.
It will be simple to register any e-mail capable account as the
preferred e-mail address.

Using an account on MiamiU (IBM VM/CMS) or MiaVX1 (DEC OpenVMS),
type PHREG at the command line. (If you have never used the PHREG
program or otherwise designated a preferred e-mail address, you may
be asked to do so each time you log in to your account until you
use the PHREG program once.) The Ph/Qi Registration screen will
appear.

On MiamiU (IBM VM/CMS) this is how it will appear:

Please select one of the following options by typing the appropriate
number and pressing the ENTER or RETURN key.

Currently your preferred e-mail address is:
       <NONE>

1 Designate this account and e-mail address
       <userid>@MiamiU.MUOhio.Edu
as your preferred e-mail address at Miami University.

This will result in e-mail sent to <uniqueid>@MUOhio.Edu
     being forwarded to <userid>@MiamiU.MUOhio.Edu

2 Exit without designating or changing your preferred e-mail address.

You may use PHREG again at any time in the future by typing PHREG
on the command line. To move to the ENDUSER command line, press the
TAB key until your cursor is to the right of the arrow (====>).

(On MiamiU, it is also possible to exit the PHREG program by
pressing the <F3> key.)

On MiaVX1 (DEC OpenVMS) this is how it will appear:

Please select one of the following options by typing the appropriate
number and pressing the ENTER or RETURN key.

Currently your preferred e-mail address is:
       <NONE>

1 Designate this account and e-mail address
       <userid>@MiaVX1.MUOhio.Edu
as your preferred e-mail address at Miami University.

This will result in e-mail sent to <uniqueid>@MUOhio.Edu
     being forwarded to <userid>@MiaVX1.MUOhio.Edu

2 Exit without designating or changing your preferred e-mail address.

You may use PHREG again at any time in the future by typing PHREG
  on the command line.

To designate an account on a system other than MiamiU or
MiaVX1 as a preferred account, telnet to ph.muohio.edu and log in
as user "phreg" (all lowercase letters without quotation marks).
No password is necessary. Follow the instructions provided on the
screen.
