Chris,

1-7700 was taken down for about an hour at midday today to make some
software corrections, with increased reliability being the goal. We are
going thru the same tweaking process this week that we went thru last
week with 523-0003 and hope to have it reliable shortly. Neither modem
bank should be considered production-quality yet, but we are working
toward it.

As I stated in the original post, 523-0003 was blocked from on-campus
phones because 2 trunk lines are tied up (one going out - one coming back
in) everytime it is dialed from oncampus.

In the meantime, if you experience problems with 1-7700, you are free to
use 9-2930. I have no information at this time on how line that number
will be operational; it was set up as a test line this summer and we will
need to pull the modems off and put them back into the production modem
pools, but I have had no word from networking on when that will take
place. We are definitely devoting all available resources to getting the
2 production lines stable.
