As you know, we have modified Rm. 47 to serve as a clinical prep room.
Beginning March 30, the room will be open from 8-5:00 (or longer, if
students so desire). Students are to enter the room through the Rm. 47 door
(the one that used to say DO NOT ENTER) not Rm. 47a door (the listening lab
office). The following "attractions" have been added as of March 28
(additional changes will be made as they occur):

Station 1- Louise Van Vliet's interactive disc on "Neuroanatomy".
Instructions are posted.

Station 2- Alice Kahn's interactive disc "Visual diagnostic screening for
communication disorders.

Station 3- Boardmaker program and color printer. This MacIntosh computer
may also be used for word processing or connecting to e-mail and netscape.
First priority will be for individuals needing to use Boardmaker.
Instructions are posted.

Stations 5 & 6- Color monitors have been hooked up to VCRs for viewing of
videotapes. If a single individual is viewing a tape, headsets are
available. Students reviewing videotapes for therapy should use the
clinical prep. room, if available, rather than the media control room.

Station 7- This station may be used to review videotapes or to dub tapes.
Instructions are posted.

With the exception of audio tape recorders and auditory trainers, all
therapy material is on open shelves for students to review and practice
using. One is still required to obtain tape recorders and auditory
trainers from the listening lab/clinical prep. room office. Students are
requested to sign out materials being used for therapy- we are using an
honor system.

Recent journals are available for use- again we are using an honor system
for signing out materials.

The room is set up for patient/family conferences as well as clinical
meetings. Anyone needing to use it as such should sign up in the main
office (book in Rm. 5 and on the door. At all other times it is available
for clinical preparation and review. This room is not to be signed up for
meetings held for a full semester (e.g., a scheduled class) but for
occasional meetings.

Diagnostic materials, audio tape recorders, and auditory trainers must be
obtained during hours in which lab assistants are available in 47a.

Enjoy! It is a neat set up. Thanks to Teresa Clevidence who has been
responsible for pulling it altogether.
