This evening at 6:15 p.m. I counted 22 common nighthawks flying low to the west, finally after only seeing singles for the past couple of weeks.
Also today I counted no less than 6 ruby-throated hummingbirds fighting over my feeders on my front porch. I've had various individuals since I hung the feeders in early August, at least 2-3 individuals on average per day. My adult males (I had 2 a couple of weeks ago along with 2 female/immature birds) have moved on and I'm left with all females and/or immatures this week.
