Subject: OAIRP Fund & Fee Information

OAIRP Members,

I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

Several years ago the organization’s fund balance reached a significantly large level. The membership decided to reduce member fees, set up a Best Paper Award and take other actions to reduce the level of the fund balance. We have done the following:

(a) membership fees were reduced

1. annual membership went from $75 to $65

2. partial-year membership went from $50 to $40

3. student membership went from $37.50 to $32.50

4. student partial-year membership went from $25 to $20

(b) workshops offered at no cost

(c) brought in keynote speakers

(d) using online registration and payment system for which we are charged a credit-card fee of 3%

(e) begun to offer two best-paper awards per year at as much as $350 each

These actions have resulted in the account balance declining from $8,941.86 two years ago to $6,405.47 (as of 9/16/10). This is down from $8,120.08 at the same time last year.

The OAIRP Executive Committee would like to keep enough of a balance in the account at all times to cover the cost of at least one conference and other expenses (such as best-paper awards) and to be able to host keynote speakers and other unique professional development opportunities. In order to be able to do this, a proposal will be made at the Fall meeting that membership rates return to the previous fee schedule.

The following fees would take effect Fall, 2011.

1. annual membership $75

2. partial-year membership $50

3. student membership $37.50

4. student partial-year membership $25

If you have any questions, please contact me or Anne Fulkerson, OAIRP Treasurer ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> ).
