I would like to offer a suggestion to Dennis' recommendation. Rather than
reporting only large fire loss or death, could a central depository be set
up to accumulate ALL significant fire emergencies. We recently had a fire
in our student residence hall resulting in $4,000.00 damage but no
injuries. The fire was a standard text book grease fire (the occupant put
the grease on the stove and went to answer the phone etc. etc. etc.)The
occupant recently had our safety training which because it was documented,
she (actually her father) had to pay the damages. This type of information
would be very useful to a great many safety professionals in putting
together convincing justification to have safety programs initiated. I
welcome any other thoughts. Dennis. I will be glad to support any document
survey you can set up.
