Hi Jon,
We have a short data set (a string of neighboring genes along a piece  
of DNA) that you looked at before. We decided that we did not have a  
sufficient number of observations to have any power for time series  
or spectral methods (8-15 obs). That makes perfect sense to me, but  
do you have a reference that I could use to make this "obvious"  
point, i.e. that times series require many (30+?) observations for  
any reasonable power? Or should I merely cite my introductory times  
series book (Diggle 1990) that provides methods, which, if applied to  
the data, would reveal low power...?
