Annie:
The "for" side for everyone to pay the same is that all would benefit
from the presence of everyone. Also, a general committment has been made
to treat everyone equally. I wonder, though, if this is a little more
than that, considering the general logistics of where the money comes
from, what it's intended to be used for, etc., which results in SLs
subsidizing everyone else, since other wise SLs would pay less and
non-SLs would pay more, just because the SL fund would cover some costs
of SLs and the trip in general. Or SLs would pay the same, non-SLs would
pay more, however it would work out.

One point I forgot to make, regarding marijuana, which Annie reminded me
of: if it were legalized and government regulated, it would almost
certainly be in a weaker form than what is available, and so a division
would occur between those who settle for the legal stuff and hardcore
people who stick to the hard stuff. There would still be a market for
it. Illegal pot would not go away. The dealers would be sure to offer a
harder version to compete with the legal stuff. And another point I
forgot: Those who are attracted to pot for its illegality would move on
to other, harder stuff once pot is legalized.
Considering all of the negatives associated with alcohol (i.e.
factor in date-rape, domestic violence, drunk driving, etc.) I for one do
not want to live in a world where people can legally walk around stoned.
