Hello to everyone! I wanted to inform you that SWE is hosting a Brownie
Day February 27, from approximately 1pm-4:15pm. This event will be a
"mini-Girl Scout Day." We are planning on having six workshops: robots,
papermaking, crystals, magnets, chemistry, and snack/film. We are planning
on having approximately 90 Brownies which will be split into 6 groups of 15.
I am co-chairing this event with Sarah McCormick from WIMSE (Women in
Math, Science, and Engineering). We need your help to make this event a
success. We will need 2 to 3 volunteers to lead the crystals, magnets,
chemistry, and snack/film workshops. We have all of the materials and
activities planned out already. We will also need volunteers to lead the
groups from workshop to workshop.
If you have an interest in helping out, please contact me either by email
([log in to unmask]) or by phone (524-2212). Let me know if you have a
preference of what you would like to do.
I think that it is wonderful that we can start to reach girls at such a
young age with the message that women can be scientists and engineers or
anything they want to be. It would be great if we could make this Brownie
Day as successful as our Girl Scout Days and make it into an annual event
for future generations of women!
