Hello WIMSE folks!

The following is another exerpt form AWIS that results from a
national survey of women in industry. THey were asked to list their
company and rank them according to the following criteria:

1) Pay
2) Opportunities to advance
3) Child Care
4) Flexibility
5) Other family-friendly benefits

Out of the top 100 companies, 40 of them have representation in the
sciences, technology, and engineering fields. While each company may
provide a different mix of benefits, Working Mother magazine did note
some over all trends in them including....

A dramatic jump in use of flexible work schedules

A greater number of paid leaves for dads and adoptive parents

A growth in development of child care centers at field offices and not
just headquarters

An increase in the number of programs that set specific tgoals for the
advancement of women. Many of these now measure managers on how well
they have accomplished these goals.

You may want to keep these companies in mind as you look for future
employment. Or just think about the issues that are important to you as
a future employee when you do interviewing. Certainly there are no
guarentees that because these companies are on this list that they will
be your best job finds.. but they provide a start.
