existing drugs including thalidomide ("tha LID o mide") and neomycin
that seem to have treatment benefits beyond their original
applications. A panel talks about how scientists identify novel uses
for drugs that have been known to medical science for years, and how
they're tested and marketed.

sociologist and popular novelist, but his memoir "Furthermore!"

his native Chicago for a conversation about the many "collars" he's
worn throughout his life.
