        Americans always seem to want more when it comes to our food.
But what effect does this have on our health, and how can we slim
down without sacrificing our favorites?


     The Diane Rehm Show, 10-12 noon (*2 full hours live on WMUB)

10-11: News Roundup: A panel of journalists joins Diane for the
Friday News Roundup, a review of the events of the Republican
Convention in Philadelphia as well as the rest of the week's national
and international news stories.
         Guests: David Brooks, The Weekly Standard; E.J. Dionne, The
Washington Post; Martha Raddatz, ABC News

11-12: On the Job: Coaching Kids' Sports: Coaches talk about juggling
kids, parents, and the special demands of training young people to
play team sports.

coaches or former coaches in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Among them they have coached football, field hockey, baseball,

We remember writer William Maxwell, the former fiction editor of the
New Yorker. Terry Gross features an interview with him from the
