Subject: Fwd: [IN-BIRD-L] Cinnamon Teal still in LaPorte

Hi Jill,

Thought you all might be interested in this, they have been spotting a
Cinnamon Teal in North-West Indiana. Jeff Brown might be interested, too,
so if you have his e-mail, could you pass the info on to him? They saw it
yesterday, 4/3, too. Ken Brock used to be Indiana's records guy, so his
posts are reliable.

We are planning on going to the Sibley talk Thursday and staying in
Cincinnati, maybe going to the zoo, etc.. for a little mini vacation. Hope
we see you there!

Janet

The male Cinnamon Teal reported yesterday in LaPorte by Kip Miller was still
present this morning. Perhaps a dozen birders viewed the bird from daylight
until at least 8:00AM (it was still present when I departed).

This individual shows no visible evidence of hybridization and sported no
leg bands.

The bird associates with Blue-winged Teal in Soldiers Memorial Park Lake,
which is just south of Pine Lake. From U.S. 35 take Waverly Road (which
skirts the south edge of Pine Lake) westward. Almost immediately Soldiers
Memorial Park Lake will be visible on your left. Turn left on Grangemouth
Drive, which will take you to a parking area adjacent to the west edge of
the lake. The teal can be seen quite well from this location.

Thanks Kip.
