Greetings... Lori Brumbaugh says at least one of the Spring Grove wintering
merlins has returned--this is something in the neighborhood of four or five
years running. In the past, a good spot to see the merlin was in and around
section 131 of the cemetery, just about dusk when it comes back from
wherever it spends its days to roost in pine trees. Spring Grove is a huge,
somewhat confusing place, but there's a great map on the Spring Grove
website at:
http://www.springgrove.org/springgrove/pdf/Map_color.pdf

Some years white-winged and red crossbills, pine siskins, and common
redpolls show up at the cemetery during winter. It's an interesting site.

Take care,
---Mike Busam
