Magazine has an article by an information technology expert who fears
scientific advances could have an unprecedented negative impact on
human life within just a few generations. Bill Joy of Sun
Microsystems explains why he once believed improvements in software
and other high-tech products would improve and enhance our existence
and why he now has misgivings.

11-12: E.L. Doctorow: Acclaimed novelist E.L. Doctorow discusses his
new work, a sprawling, ambitious book titled "City of God" (Random
House). The story begins when a cross disappears from a New York City
church and mysteriously re-appears at a nearby synagogue. The plot
unfolds along with an exploration of faith and religion at the dawn
of this new century.
