Yes, we do the same thing you're proposing. They work under the supervision of my two  assistant safety officers.

Does anyone use student workers to conduct building fire inspections? We are think of hiring two student workers to conduct basic fire prevention inspections in academic facilities (i.e. inspect exit lights, housekeeping, etc). They would be provide with checklist inspection forms.
