Hello everyone,
I'm an English learner in China. Now, I have some questions about following sentences.
1. Far from it for me to hurt your feelings. * I don't know which item of grammar this sentence involve? Maybe subjunctive mood? Can you explain it for me.
2. A stranger is a stranger, whether he be handsome or not. * Why don't we say "...,whether he were handsome or not"?
3. Home is home, be it ever so homely. * The structure and the usage of "be" are so strange. I can't understand.
I'd appreciate it very much if you'd answer me. Thank you very much.
Yours,
Su Piao
