Attached is the December 2001 newsletter for our section in PDF format. Our
next meeting on January 16, will have Steve Carmichael talking about
Structural Fatigue and how it affects roller coasters.

Also, please read the report from the Region G meeting. Carolina is
interested in hearing from you, the membership, if redistricting would help
strengthen SWE throughout the area. She also would like to groom her
successor by appointing a Deputy Director to work with her next year. This
woman would then be ready to run for Director when Carolina's term expires.
Contact her if you are interested in this leadership opportunity.

Our Section Representative, Katherine Swit, is entering graduate school at
Columbia in January. We are needing someone who can work with her for a
smooth transition. The Council of Section Reps meeting will be in Chicago,
on March 9, 2002, instead of June. Please let Katherine or me know if you
are interested in this vital position.

Take Apart a Toaster Day is coming. When Santa replaces that worn-out
gizmo, vcr, cd-player, clock radio, etc. etc. etc, save it for SWE. We've
already begun collecting, but we can never have too much for the kids to
dissect.

Happy holidays to all of you!

Alison Haskins
President, South Ohio
