DJ,

One question - when you experience these problems, are you connected to the cluster from an on-campus or off-campus location? A month or so ago, there were some issues with very slow network connections for users connecting from off-campus.

Subject: Unpredictable hangs during file I/O on RedHawk

Hello,

For a couple of days I have been experiencing unpredictable lock ups on
Redhawk. My suspicion is that the file system is hiccupping because even
changing directory (such as: cd ..) simply hangs forever, until I kill the
job. Once I kill a job the node seems to be OK but then again locks up after
a couple of operations. Possibly it is some specific operation that I am
doing; but I am just using the shell (not even running my own code). In any
case, I will be thankful if you could investigate this issue and help me
troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks

With regards
