My understanding is that my /shared/karrogrp/ is on a different file system, hence is somewhat slower to access. This is normally fine, but I'm having problems with the genomic data stored there right now. We need to benchmark some tools that require multiple access of that data, so we don't want to be slowed down. But there are several of us working on it, so we need to either make multiple copies or find another shared location.

We are talking about 10 Gb of data (at the moment). Is there a way to put it in a shared space with a faster access, or should we maintain our own local copies?
