Change in IBM VM/CMS (MiamiU) Mail Forwarding Commands
On Monday morning, May 15, at 10 a.m., a change in the commands for
forwarding VM/CMS (MiamiU) mail to other e-mail addresses will take
effect. EXISTING MAIL FORWARD SETTINGS WILL REMAIN. Only the commands
used to list, add and delete addresses will change.
Clients must still type the commands from any CMS command area. Please
refer to the following tasks and commands for further detail.
Should further clarification be needed, please contact the Help Desk
at extension 7900 or Lisa Ehrichs at extension 6231 (e-mail
[log in to unmask]).
LISTING CURRENT FORWARDED ADDRESSES:
-----------------------------------
You can check where your mail is going at any time by sending a
SHOW FORWARD command.
TELL MAILER SHOW FORWARD <----| <return>
SETTING A FORWARDING ADDRESS:
-----------------------------
Activate mail forwarding by typing the following command from a CMS
command line :
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
ADDING ANOTHER FORWARDING ADDRESS:
----------------------------------
If you need to have your mail forwarded to multiple addresses,
here is how to do it. You first issue a normal SET FORWARD command with
the first address, and then, for each additional address you want your
mail forwarded to, you send a SET FORWARD command with a plus sign before
the address. Example:
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
You now have three addresses in your forward list.
NOTE: IF YOU ISSUE A NORMAL SET FORWARD again,
all three addresses will be replaced with the new one,
or deleted if you did SET FORWARD OFF.
REMOVING A SINGLE FORWARDING ADDRESS:
------------------------------------
To remove just one address, prefix that address with a minus sign:
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
would remove the first address in the list.
RETAINING A COPY OF MAIL MESSAGES IN YOUR VM ACCOUNT:
----------------------------------------------------
If you want to
keep a copy of each forwarded item in your VM mailbox, ie if you only
want an extra copy sent to the address of your choice, simply include
your own VM address in your forwarding list. For instance, if your
address on VM is [log in to unmask] and you want a copy of each message
sent to your workstation while the original remains in your VM mailbox,
just type:
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD [log in to unmask] <---| <return>
TO STOP ALL MAIL FORWARDING:
-----------------------------
To turn off mail forwarding, type the following command from a CMS
command line:
TELL MAILER SET FORWARD OFF <---| <return>
NOTE: Forwarding to all addresses will be stopped. To resume forward-
ing, you must add the forwarding addresses as if new.
LISTING MAIL FORWARDING COMMANDS:
---------------------------------
You can get a list of mail commands by typing TELL MAILER HELP. The
following lines will be displayed.
TELL MAILER HELP <---| <return>
