Exactly. A few years ago in Omaha, country hit the scene in an amazing
way. Nearly everyone, especially high school students, caught on to
country music. The result was the cropping up of at least ten different
country stations. In a city of 350,000 with several oldies and a couple
of rock stations, that's a lot of country stations. Even the one good
alternative station went country (a sad day for indie rock fans).
Anyway, the point is: eight of the ten were gone in a year and a half.
They just couldn't cut it.
My larger point is this: Money mentality rules. What we have to do, as
people with good taste in music, is make sure that other people know who
the Connells and other great unknowns are. I mean, who wouldn't like the
Connells if they had a chance to hear them?
