O.K., there's the obvious ones like Ben Folds Five and Squirrel Nut
Zippers.  Satellite Boyfriend WAS great, John (I've got that album on
VINYL); did you know bassist Andy is in Hobex now?  Charlotte has some
good bands, too:  Jolene (that Americana sound); Laburnum (they've got
out 2 CDs); Lustre (O.K., they've moved to California now, but they're
originally from NC); Sugarsmack (Hope Nicholls strikes again); a really
cool band is Latino Chrome, but they don't have anything released yet.
Lessee, who else? Flat Duo Jets, as always; the Veldt (I guess they're
still around).  I know I've left out tons, but that should give anyone a
start.
