I want to add my congratulations to the planners of the Memphis trip as
well as all who attended this great adventure. I deeply enjoyed going with
you and hope that all of you came away with as many good memories and as
much learned as I did. I can recall so vividly our visit to the Civil
Rights Museum, the service trip, Elvis and all. It's fun to have people
ask me about the trip because I can recount so many good experiences.

I noticed the question about TTO on the listserve and I wanted to suggest a
couple of possibilities:
1. You will remember that I brought "Skin Deep" on the bus and somehow
this one never made it to the top of the "most popular" list. I would like
to suggest that this could be a great stimulus for discussion sometime. It
is about college students seeking to make a difference on diversity issues.
It is available through the leadership resource center in my office.
2. I want to reiterate the idea of going to the Uptown Bakery for TTO or
another activity. If you're interested, I can arrange it with the owners
with a little advanced notice.

In addition to these ideas, we also have the opportunity to continue our
work with the deliberative community idea. Both McBride and Reid Halls
want to have discussions around free speech vs. hate speech and the
deliberative communities booklet on this topic is very good. Ali and I
have discussed the desire to work on these but I don't know if there are
others among you who would be interested. Any takers out there?

Welcome back everyone and I look forward to a great second semester.

Later,
Denny
