A recent psychologists' study out of Edinburgh
University supposedly demonstrates that there are twice as many men as women in
the brightest 2% of the population. At the time of the study, for example,
men had been awarded 545 out of the 557 Nobel prizes for science.
Was Lawrence Summers on the ball,
then?
On the other hand, the study also shows that the
same applies to the bottom 2%, supporting the headline, 'Men are smartest and
dumbest, say scientists.'
However, when it comes to performance in language
learning, my experience is the reverse as quite a number of studies have
demonstrated, I believe.
