Andrea,

It’s an old book, but it’s quite good: A PRACTICAL RHETORIC OF EXPOSITORY PROSE by Kane and Peters.

You may have to go to Alibris.com to get it, but I think you’ll find it valuable.

Best wishes,

Marshall Myers

Subject: Sentence stress and rhythm in writing texts

Dear all,

I am working on a project that examines the treatment of sentence stress and rhythm in writing/composition/style texts.  Would any of you be able to recommend other books that discuss this topic?  I've identified Martha Kolln's Rhetorical Grammar, Joseph Williams' Style, and Richard Lanham's Revising Prose so far.

Thank you!

Best,

Andrea Olinger
