I think we may be talking at crossed purposes. Niebuhr did not
write in German. Moral Man and Immoral Society was written in English. I don’t
know if it’s been translated into German, but even if it has, that would be the
reverse of what you were saying.

why would I not read Niebuhr in the original language? I have a friend
and colleague who likes to read Agatha Christie in Polish, but she’s weird in
