Speaking of mondegreens and hymns, how about that wonderful old chestnut
"Gladly, the Cross-Eyed Bear."

This week at my school, all the boys have to memorize and recite a poem of
their own choosing. It's a wonderful annual event, but also a time for some
nervousness among the students. And I guess it affects the faculty as well,
as one of my colleagues asked me, "Is this the week for the poetry
resuscitations?"
