A wonderful example of coordinating conjunctions at the beginning of sentences AND paragraphs is Bruce Catton's "Grant and Lee: A Study in Contrasts." They are joiners, after all, and they are a great way to show clear relationships between paragraphs, a skill that many students need help with.
