How would you analyze the following sentence, especially regarding the clause "that it was coming"?
"Everyone agreed with him that it was coming."

Way back in the days when we old people knew mostly just prescriptive grammar, that was called a subordinating conjunction, “an expression whose sole duty is to connect the two clauses.” In analyzing “I hope that tickets are still available,” one grammarian wrote “The noun clause that tickets are still available, functioning as the direct object of the main verb hope is introduced by the subordinating conjunction that.
