The Directory Server uses public domain client/server software developed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The client software, called ph (short for "phonebook"), is accessible on Miami's centrally-managed multi-user systems (MiamiU, the IBM VM/CMS system, and MiaVX1, the DEC OpenVMS system in Oxford) and is also available for network-connected desktop DOS/Windows and Macintosh (from the MU_Support server) and UNIX workstations. Desktop ph client software should be pointed at ph.muohio.edu. The server application, which includes the directory database, is called qi. -- John B Harlan Campus Wide Information Systems (CWIS) Coordinator Miami University (Ohio USA) [log in to unmask]
