An absurdity, for purposes of this compilation, includes anything that: (a) simply does not make sense (b) could only happen in academe (c) runs counter to what is referred to as common sense, or (d) is downright funny. Absurdities may relate to teaching, research, service, faculty, students or (last, but certainly not the least) administration (and of course, administrators). We encourage all contributors to change the names of the individuals and institutions in order to maintain anonymity--unless, of course, the contributor nurses a deep-rooted malice and an uncontrollable urge to malign. You may contribute as many anecdotes as you would like provided they are received by April 15, 1995. Strict confidentiality is assured. All contributions will be acknowledged.
