FR. Bob - I am very sorry for the pain that this young man and you are
going through!  I am recovering from alcoholism and am also gay, so I
know some of his pain.  I assume that he's tried AA - ?  Some good
AA-alternatives that I know of are:  Rational Recovery (916-621-2667) and
Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART, 617-891-7574).  These were
extremely helpful for me.  Just call these two numbers to find out what
is available in his area.  I wish you well!  Cathy
